乾隆黄地洋彩四季菊花天球瓶

这个花瓶叫黄地洋彩四季菊花天球瓶。四季菊花图案虽然未有公开见到,但在乾隆时期的造办处档案里有过这样的记载。

中国人用梅兰菊竹代表四季的冬春秋夏。不见竹的出现,表示皇朝一直停留在春天,有喜鹊报春画面。瓶中还有一首由乾隆年间著名诗人袁枚所作的“晚菊”来点辍主题。

瓶上画作立体感强烈,色泽艳丽,它用色彩浓淡变化,延伸了空间的伸缩感,与乾隆年间御画家余省的作品“菊石图”如出一辙。

瓶子所用颜料也是珐琅釉,其中胭脂红是用黄金作为发色剂,非常名贵。而紫色则是用胭脂红加蓝釉搭配而成,用放大镜可以看出来两种色混合而成。黄釉则是已经失传的低温锑黄釉,烧好白瓷之后才上的黄釉,色泽鲜艳均匀,含铅量很高。

瓶子整体来说,布局合理,线条流畅,画工精美,鸟儿生动,非常值得欣赏,是一件乾隆时期不可多得的作品。

Yellow Qianlong Celestial Globe Vase

This vase is called the Yellow Ground Foreign Color Four Seasons Chrysanthemum Celestial Globe Vase. Although the Four Seasons Chrysanthemum pattern has not been seen publicly, there is such a record in the archives of the Imperial Household Department during the Qianlong period.

The Chinese use plum, orchid, chrysanthemum and bamboo to represent the four seasons of winter, spring, autumn and summer. The absence of bamboo indicates that the dynasty has always stayed in spring, with a picture of magpies announcing spring. There is also a poem “Late Chrysanthemum” written by Yuan Mei, a famous poet during the Qianlong period, in the vase to punctuate the theme.

The painting on the vase has a strong three-dimensional sense and bright colors. It uses the changes in color intensity to extend the sense of expansion and contraction of space, which is exactly the same as the work “Chrysanthemum Stone Picture” by Yu Sheng, an imperial painter during the Qianlong period.

The pigment used in the bottle is also enamel glaze, among which carmine red uses gold as a coloring agent, which is very precious. The purple is made of carmine red and blue glaze. You can see the mixture of the two colors with a magnifying glass. The yellow glaze is a lost low-temperature antimony yellow glaze, which is applied after the white porcelain is fired. The color is bright and uniform, and the lead content is very high.

Overall, the bottle has a reasonable layout, smooth lines, exquisite painting, and vivid birds. It is very worthy of appreciation and is a rare work from the Qianlong period.
